4th of July Celebration I Thursday, June 30
Celebrate America at the Pelham Senior Center, Thursday, June 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Wear your red, white, and blue and enjoy music by Chuck King. Registration opens on June 1, so be sure to contact the Senior Center if you wish to attend.
Weather Awareness with James Spann I Wednesday, July 6
Respect the polygon and have a plan! Local weather legend and television meteorologist James Spann will explain what you need to know to prepare for and stay safe during severe weather. The program begins at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6. We’re pretty sure the forecast calls for at least a 90% chance of suspenders!
Pelham Senior World Games I Thursday, July 7
The World Games are coming to Oak Mountain State Park, but before the games begin, Pelham Senior Center has a chance for you to participate in the Pelham Senior Games! Compete against your friends in games such as Wii bowling, cornhole, team Yahtzee and more. Come out on Thursday, July 7 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The cost is $3.00 per person for a pizza lunch.
Ballroom Beach Bash I Saturday, July 23
Here’s your chance to learn some ballroom dance steps and have an evening of fun with friends. The Ballroom Beach Bash is Saturday, July 23 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Pelham Senior Center. Participants will receive one hour of teaching from an instructor, followed by an hour of dancing. Reservations must be made by July 20th, and the cost is $5.00 per person. Grandparents Day Luau I Thursday, July 28
Bring your grandchildren and wear your best Hawaiian clothes for the Grandparents Day Luau on Thursday, July 28 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Your grands will enjoy crafts, Bingo, hula lessons, and a photo booth. Best of all, we’ll serve pizza for lunch! The cost is $3.00 per child. You may register in person at the Pelham Senior Center, or by clicking here.
Flower Arranging Workshop with Wild Honey Flower Truck I Tuesday, August 16
Take advantage of those beautiful late-summer blooms and learn the art of flower arranging. The Birmingham-based Wild Honey Flower Truck will be on hand for a flower arranging workshop on Tuesday, August 16 at 1:00 p.m. The cost is $10 per person for supplies.
Monthly Luncheon I 2nd Thursday of each month
Community paramedics will be on hand at 11:00 a.m. for blood pressure checks and to provide helpful information on various topics. Lunch is served at noon, with entertainment following. In-person registration for the monthly luncheon opens on the first working day of the month at the Pelham Senior Center.
All fitness classes are $2.00 per class. Register in person at the welcome desk on the day of the class
Mondays I Fitness Forward
10:30 a.m. – Fitness Forward is a 50-minute low-impact aerobics class that incorporates resistance, cardio, balance, core, and strength.
Tuesdays I Line Dancing
10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Intermediate – This class is fast-paced and involves intricate dance steps. It is designed for experienced dancers.
11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. Improver – Challenge yourself with more intricate dance steps. Designed for those between beginner and intermediate levels.
1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Beginner – Basic line dance steps are broken down and put to music.
Wednesdays I Gentle Yoga
12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. Stretch, breathe, build strength and meditate with gentle yoga. All standing and floor poses may be modified to perform in a chair. There is a short section on the floor which is optional. All levels are welcome.
1st & 3rd Wednesdays I Pelham Promenaders
1:15 p.m. – 3:15 p.m. The Pelham Promenaders are a modern western square/round dancing group.
Fridays I Tai Chi
10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Tai Chi is a graceful, slow-moving mind and body art form. The benefits of this activity are mental clarity, improved balance, increased flexibility, strength, and range of motion.
All activities are held at the Pelham Senior Center, located at 50 Racquet Club Parkway. Registration for events opens on the first working day of each month of the scheduled event.
